Review for the Devil Wears Prada by Lauren Weisberger
This is my second time
through the Devil Wears Prada . I liked it the first time around. It was
also the first chick literature book I ever read. Who couldn't identify with
Andy and her trials in pleasing her boss?
The story of the Devil
Wears Prada chronicles Andrea Sachs life during her first job. The job is
working for Miranda Priestly the Editor and Chief of Runway magazine. Miranda
has two assistants Emily and her newest Emily. Andrea finds out that she is
immediately over her head in this position but if she can just stick it out her
dream job awaits. The first lesson that Andy learns is that she has a rather
low fashion IQ. Emily and the other staff take great joy in pointing this out.
While Andy feels like she is busy with the tasks that Miranda asks her to
accomplish. She is dying to complain
about her job. She does it with the Runway Paranoid turnaround. You are
wondering what a Runway Paranoid turnaround is? Well you just have to read the
book in this case.
Andy also has friends
and family to contend with as well. Her family lives in Connecticut and her
sister flies in from time to time. She finds herself too busy to even have time
for them. Then there is her boyfriend Alex and his career is already set. He is
understanding of her career in the beginning but cannot understand Andy's
priorities with her friends. Andy spends a lot of time with her best friend
Lily. She is supportive of Andy but she does not pay attention because of her
alcohol consumption.
I really liked this book. I loved the book the second time around! Pick up this author and sit back for a good
time.
