Jane is Back!

Jane Green is one of my favorite authors.  I have sat at her feet and learned a great deal about writing.  Her latest novel Falling has some truth from her real life.  She shared the story with us as I attended her tour stop at Fox Tale Book Shoppe.
Emma is ready to start over.  She has given up her career as a banker to move to Westport Connecticut.  Her good friend Sophie lives there with her family.  So she starts to look for housing and finds a nice cottage on the beach.  Her landlord is her next door neighbor  Dominic. He is also handy to a certain extent.  Emma finds her next calling as an interior designer.  So as Dominic and Emma’s relationship grows will there be a future?
My Thoughts:
I very much enjoyed this story.  I will agree with what others have said that this is “classic Jane Green” at her best.  All fiction has some basis in reality.  I feel that her agent was right that now is the perfect time to tell this story.  What was most meaningful for me is identifying with the character of Emma.  I am single and in my late 30s.  I did not try some of her experiences such as Tinder box.   I have experienced others.  So I could completely understand her feelings when she met Dominic.
The story also featured some home décor.  I find this interesting to read about because you want to find out to know the end results.

The story is set in Westport Connecticut.  The author has characters that you can identify with and want to see succeed in the end.  I was a little disappointed with the ending.   I am ready for Jane’s cookbook that will be coming out very soon.

It’s Time For An All Star Cast

Thank you to Random House for a copy of The Job by Janet Evanovich and Lee Goldberg in exchange for an honest review.

When I was a young girl I remember watching the movie of the week on the major networks.  This movie would have an all-star cast much like the Marvel movies, but on the smaller screen.  When I read this novel it had the same feel.  So who would I cast in these roles?

Kate O'Hare:  Scarlett Johansson
Nick Fox:  Matt Bomer
Jake O'Hare:  Terry O’Quinn
Eddie:  Kevin Wiseman
Boyd:  Bruce Campbell
Tom: Scott Caan
Willie: Gabriel Anwar
Menendez:  Nestor Carbonell
Rayna:  Merrin Dungey

Kate is finishing a bank robbery case as her boss calls her to tell her what Nick Fox is up to next.  The call reveals that there have been robberies in Nashville Tennessee, Turkey, and France.  Nick Fox is blamed for all the thefts until France.  The FBI has an arrangement with Nick to help them.  His job is to bring down criminals and Kate is his handler and partner.  The robberies are code for another problem. This could lead to an opportunity to take down a really bad criminal.  One of Nick’s previous accomplices needs his help.  She asks him to take down the leader of the Columbian Cartel Menendez for the murder of her brother.  How can Nick and Kate lure this guy in?  What is the plan?

My Thoughts:

I very much enjoyed this novel.  I think it is my favorite of the Janet Evanovich series.  I hope that I get an opportunity to read more.  One reason this series appeals to me is that the settings are all over the United States and the world at large.  It does not take the typical path of many Evanovich series.  The dialogue is interesting but keeps the story moving along.  There is a lot of action.

Altogether readers will be turning pages to the very end to see if The Job is successful!
