A Conversation with Kristin Hannah and Giveaway

Image
I am always delighted to sit down and discuss what is next for Kristin Hannah.   This week we are discussing the paperback release of Fly Away and a giveaway.   When it was first published, you described Firefly Lane as the book that hit closest to home for you. What is it about the story of Kate and Tully that continues to be so meaningful to you? Of all the books I’ve written, Firefly Lane has the most of me on every page. I grew up in the town where the novel is set; I lived in the house that was described. I was very much of that era. I went to the University of Washington, and got the same degree as Kate and Tully did. The world of Firefly Lane is very much my world. Also, I lost my own mom to breast cancer. That’s a very personal story that I wanted to tell. Writing Firefly Lane was my way of looking back on the loss of my mom and understanding it as a woman. Additionally, I wanted to give readers some information about what to look for with breast cancer t...

Thank you to Librarything and Random House for sending me two copies of The LifeList by Lori Nelson Spielman.   I have two copies to giveaway. Synopsis: Brett is mourning the death of her mother, her boss, and confidante.   She barely makes it through the funeral. The reading of the will is the following day.   Brett sees herself as the new president of Bohlinger Cosmetics which her mother founded.   When the will is actually read Brett does not get the job but gets something else instead.   A Life List that she wrote when she was fourteen years old with goals.    These goals must be completed in order to get her inheritance.   Will Brett follow through?   How will her life change because of these goals? My Thoughts: An interesting story by author Lori Nelson Spielman.   Half the fun when covering a topic such as this is what ends up being on the Life List.   Is there any outlandish goals? Or are they simple ...

Synopsis: Apron lives in Maine and has recently lost her mother.   The new woman in her dad’s life M may not be what she seems.     M seems to enjoy wreaking havoc in Apron’s life.     As Apron goes through the year and goes what will she discover about herself?   How will she survive her mother’s death?     Then there is life at school.   What will she do without her best friend Rennie?   My Thoughts: Girl Unmoored is a beautiful moving tale about a girl named Apron and her experiences.    The novel is told from the perspective of a thirteen year old’s world.     I felt that it was written well.   Also it is set in the 1980s.   Who doesn’t remember that time in their life?  ...
