Visiting Mary Alice Monroe

Tuesday I went to the Decatur library to visit Mary Alice Monroe bestselling author of Last Light Over Carolina, Sweet Grass, and The Beach House. I had heard about her from other contacts and who said what a great writer she is. Mary Alice Monroe was speaking at the Georgia Center for the Books. I was excited to attend this event.

The Decatur library is an older building in the middle of downtown Decatur. The ground floor has the auditoriums where the authors meet to share their latest books. Since libraries don’t sell new stock books a local bookstore is selected to sell the authors work? The bookstore selected for this event is the Fox Tale Bookstore in Woodstock Ga.

Mary Alice shared on her latest book The Butterfly‘s Daughter. The theme comes from the journey of the monarch butterfly. I thought it was interesting the way she used the theme of the creature of the monarch butterfly to create a story. She is noted for writing creating a story around a creature in her other books. This author is worth reading more. I hope to get a copy of the Butterfly’s Daughter to review.
