Ellen Feldman Looks to the Past!

Image
I won this book in the mystery giveaway by Random House.   Thank you to Random House and Ellen Feldman for the opportunity to review this book. Synopsis: Grace, Babe, and Millie are friends that live in South Downs Massachusetts.   The time is 1942 prior to the draft and the beginning of the World War Two.   Once America is attacked each woman must face time alone and be there to support one another in friendship.   Grace is home alone with her daughter Amy while Charlie fights in the war.   Millie is dying to marry Pete before he heads off to fight and marries Pete.   Babe and follows Claude her man to the camp and marries him.    The women support each other but who will survive?   What will life be like after the war? My Thoughts: I felt this book has a poignant view about World War II.   This book reminded me of the film Flags of Our Fathers where we see how the war impacted the soldiers who participated.   ...

Nicholas Sparks Has Special Sight At First Sight

Image
I love Nicholas Spark’s books as audiobooks.     They are often relaxing reads. Synopsis:   Jeremy Marsh is preparing to wed his bride to be Lexie Darnell.    The main request she has made of Jeremy is that he move to Boone Creek.   Jeremy makes the sacrifice to move to Boone Creek.   He and Lexie move forward with their plans for the wedding.   The only problem is that Jeremy can’t write.   He has trouble feeling inspired and then there are these cryptic e-mails.   Will the wedding happen?   How will life progress with Lexie? My Thoughts: When I think of audiobooks my first choice is Nicholas Sparks.   He has great books but I enjoy listening to them more than reading.    As much as I love his work this book did not appeal as much as I would have liked it to.   I found the author’s description of Boone Creek where this story is set very entertaining.    I think that I found   ...

Inspirational Romance: From This Day Forward by Irene Hannon

I read this book for the Red Dress Ink Challenge.     I have not been disappointed yet by an Irene Hannon novel. Synopsis:   Cara Martin has suffered through a traumatic event.   The event is so traumatic her best friend Liz calls her estranged husband Sam a doctor for help.    He and Cara have had their own problems in the past.     Liz calls Sam to see if he can help Cara to heal but with some reservations in regards to the past.    Will Cara and Sam both be able to heal and put the past behind them? My Thoughts: I am not a fan of the short story.    I find myself putting books like this off in favor of the long novel.    I very much enjoyed this story.     The book was a quick read and very enjoyable.     I look forward to reading more by Irene Hannon.
