Jump Into the Secret of Lies by Barbara Forte Abate

Thank you Barbara for sending me a copy of your book.  I am excited to read and share this book with you all.

Synopsis:

Eleanor and Stephanie spend every summer at their Aunt Smyrna and Uncle Cal’s beach house in New York.  The girls are from Callicoon Wisconsin so the beach is the ultimate vacation away from the parents.  The summers are great and Stephanie and Eleanor look forward to going every year.   The year of 1957 changes everything for both Stephanie and Eleanor.  A tragedy occurs that Aunt Smyrna and Stephanie attempt to cover up.   Will Stephanie truly be able to recover from this tragedy and move forward with her life?

My Thoughts:

Ms. Abate crafts the story well.  She creates characters that struggle with lies that are told.   How will they affect other characters in the story?  Will they be able to ask for help?  I thought the story was very interesting.   The story drew me in initially but got really slow in the middle.  I loved though how you knew that something was going on in the story.  The author just hinted at the circumstances while keeping your interest in the story.
