Thin, Rich, or Pretty Which Do You Prefer?

Thin, Rich, Pretty by Beth Harbison explores the idea do you have to be Thin, Rich, or Pretty to be happy?  This story she introduces three characters:  Holly, Nicola, and Lexie.  What could their experiences possibly have in common?

Synopsis:

Holly, Nicola, and Lexie met in the past at summer camp in Pennsylvania.  Holly and Nicola were never really liked by the other girls in their cabin.  You could also say the same for their counselor.  Lexie on the other hand was with the popular group but still not loved much by others.  She hid in the popular group in order to feel that she belonged.  One night Holly and Nicola attempt the unthinkable and took something that was very precious to Lexie.  Fast forward twenty years into the future each women has moved forward with their lives.  Holly runs an art gallery but is still trying to please others, but can she truly find happiness?  Nicola is a moderately successful actress who needs to make a change for her career.  Will the proposed nose job help or hurt her career?  What will Lexie do when she finds out she is made penniless by her stepmother?

My Thoughts:

I enjoyed this book!  I didn’t think I would.  The beginning left a lot to be desired. If you can get past the initial chapters then the story becomes more interesting.   I thought that the author did a great job of exploring the subjects of the struggles to be Thin, Rich, or Pretty.   The story is set in Maryland, the District of Columbia, and Pennsylvania Dutch Country.
