Are You Ready for Some Drama?

Hillary Denson is a guest reviewer reviewing A House Divided by Kimberla Lawson Roby.  If you know Rev. Curtis Black then you know this novel is full of drama which has you sitting still begging for more.

Synopsis:

Curtis and Charlotte’s son is on his way to becoming a father.  Charlotte is stuck somewhere between--mad cause her son has been bamboozled by a young gold digging Jezebel and ecstatic because she gets to be mother  to a newborn baby something she has wanted to do for quite some time.  There is no one more capable of the task beside her husband Rev. Curtis Black.  Vanessa and Charlotte are after each other one way or another arguing about everything from the baby’s name to the furniture for his nursery.  After a very heated argument at the baby shower Racquel is rushed to the hospital and delivers the baby prematurely.  Visitation is limited for Charlotte and even after the baby is released from the hospital.  She then decides to take matters into her own hand with the help of an old friend to get custody of Baby Mj one way or the other.  Will the Black Family be able to withstand the drama their family is going through this time or is it over as a first family for them?  Or will they still even be a family at all?

My Thoughts:

This story brings back so many old sayings for me “What’s done in the dark will come to the light” and “What goes around comes around.” This was a great read and it left you wanting more!   The issues in this book are well known for prior readers of the Reverend Curtis series.   This was a Classic tale of “The hand that rocks the cradle is the hand that rules the world.”  The disagreement over the baby's name and the nursery furniture also visitation between the families and so forth.  I wanted the drama to begin in Chapter one but it wasn’t until about the third or fourth chapter that caught my “can’t put it down” attention.

Rating:

4/5
