Do You Have Faith?
Mitch Albom
shares a story about a man seeking faith while running from it. The novel begins with a Rabbi that knew him
growing up making a request: “Will you
do my eulogy?”
How would
you answer this question? The author’s answer
was to get to know the Rabbi. The rest
of the book chronicles their journey of what he learns while getting to know
the Rabbi. The author asks questions
that we all would ask. Is there a
God? Are you really a man or woman of
faith? Also what did he learn?
This book
came as a recommendation to me from my father. I didn’t know if I would like this author
or not. I had never really considered
reading any of his novels in the past. The author’s approach is very direct and
straight forward. The plotting of this
story was interesting to me. The author
would discuss his meetings with the Rabbi and then share about Life of Henry. He is a pastor that the author meets in a
homeless ministry.
He never
left you waiting to find out what would happen next. I feel that the story ended for me with some
hope and faith. I don’t know if I will
continue to read some of his in the future or not we shall see.
