Journey Back to the Jacobite Rising with Diana Gabaldon
Dragon Fly in Amber is the second book in the Outlander
series. I have read this book
previously. I decided to listen to the
audio book this time. I had heard how
great the audio books for this series are.
Synopsis:
Twenty years
after the end of Outlander, Claire
and her daughter Brianna make the trip to Scotland. This trip is more than just a vacation for
mother and daughter. There are aspects
about the past that Claire must share with Brianna. They go to visit a friend of the family Roger
Wakefield. Claire needs help with a
project and asks Roger and Brianna to help.
While investigating Claire’s project Roger and Brianna discover
something. Claire then shares her story
about the Jacobite uprising which may surprise Brianna? Why is it important for Roger to be present?
My Thoughts:
The audiobook
is performed by Davina Porter. It is
also a commitment because it is 39 hours.
I literally did nothing but listen to this book on my way to and from
work. The book was performed well by
Davina Porter. I could definitely picture
her as Claire. I felt the performance
made the characters more lifelike.
The subject
in this book is Claire and Jamie’s quest to stop the Jacobite uprising but also
Brianna learning about her real father.
How much does anyone know about the Jacobite uprising? Do you feel that Diana got the character of
Charles Stuart right? Diana always has
a way of keeping my interest in her books.
Rating:
4/5
