The Carrie Diaries by Candace Bushnell. Check out Carrie before Sex and the City

Since the Carrie Diaries will be premiring this week, I thought I would share my review of the first book in the Carrie Diaries series.  I looked forward to learning more about the character of Carrie Bradshaw.            

Synopsis:

Everyone knows Carrie Bradshaw from the Sex and the City television series.  What was Carrie like prior to New York and all her friends?  She is from a small town Castlebury in the northeast.   Her friends are the Mouse, Lali, Maggie, and Walt.  The new boy in school is Sebastian Kydd.  All the girls covet being with him, including Carrie.  She even ignites her writing career through the school newspaper.  How does Carrie handle the pressures that senior year can bring?

My Thoughts: 

I liked this book.  I thought it was better than any of the other books I have read by Ms. Bushnell.  I loved how the plot followed straight forward to the end of the book.   I felt this novel is a little mature to be in the Young Adult category. I look forward to reading the next one in the series.
