Let The Games Begin!
I began this
book reluctantly at first; although I had heard some great praise for the Hunger Games. Are the critics right?
Katniss has
lived all of her life in District 12 and every year they attend the Reaping
where a male and female tribute is chosen.
She has grown up with her friend Gale hunting and providing for their
families. This year’s reaping is
special because Katniss’s sister Prim is attending for the first time. Both girls go to the reaping but when Prim’s
name is drawn what will Katniss do? The
Hunger Games are a fight to the death.
There are always two tributes from each district, and who will the other
be?
My Thoughts:
I am really
glad I read this book and the critics were right on! I thought the story was great! I felt it was well written. The protagonist is not superficial and
shallow like many in young adult books.
The character of Katniss is realistic and knows the hardships in her
world. The conflict between Katniss and
Peeta really helped push the story.
Suzanne Collins leaves you wanting more!
I spent most
of yesterday finishing this book. I don’t
usually spend most of the day reading unless it is a Readathon. What makes a great book for you? For me it is a well told story, great
characters, and great action. I am ready
for Catching Fire! Are you?
Please let
Suzanne know your thoughts on her books on her website.

A great book for me is when it is evocative :)
