Who would like three months in Florence Italy?

The second part of our trip to Italy takes us to Three Months in Florence by Mary Carter.  Thank you to Mary Carter and Kensington Books for sending me this
novel.

Synopsis:

Lena has the perfect man and the perfect family.  Or does she?  One night Alex her husband asks her to dinner at a local restaurant to give her some news.  He tells her that he has been asked to teach in Florence Italy at the university.  Lena is beside herself with excitement because she has dreamed of going to Italy for sixteen years.  Could this really be happening?  Then Alex tells her that he will go himself and there will not be room for the family.  Lena perseveres because there is a promise of being able to visit.  Then Alex tells her that he has been asked to teach another semester.  Lena is livid and then tells him he is coming home.  The day arrives and Alex is not there but a Skype to Italy reveals he has a mistress.  The trip to Italy does happen.   How will Lena respond?  Will she get her husband back?

My Thoughts:

I loved the idea of a novel set in Italy.   The author does a great job of setting and the scene in Italy.  You will learn about the art of Florence.  Conflict is strong throughout with Lena’s fight to win her husband back.  I felt for the character of Lena and the pain she must be going through in these circumstances in her life. Also how Lena tried to be a good mother.

The novel asks how would you then confront your husband and heal from these wounds.  What can we do for ourselves to heal?  What gifts come from these circumstances?

Still a wonderful novel to read this summer!

What would you write on your Murder List?

Murder List is the fourth book in the Buchanan family series.  You are probably wondering what a murder list is?  Well you will have to check out the story for more.

Synopsis:

Reagan is known for giving away money.   It is what she does in her work for the Madison hotel.  She works with various charities with the assistance of Henry.   She is the only girl in the family of three brothers.  One day her work is captured in the paper and a psycho  starts to pursue her.  Meanwhile her friend Sophie is very interested in capturing the infamous Dr. Shields who she suspects of murder.  Will Reagan and Cordie help?  Reagan is asked to go the police station to find out more about the case when she runs across detective Alec Buchanan.   It is a chance meeting where neither expects one another again.  When the psycho starts contacting Reagan on a regular basis Alec is drawn into her life.  Will he be able to protect her?  Will sparks fly in this relationship?  Who is the murderer?

My Thoughts:

Julie introduces us to another Buchanan brother in this one Alec.  Did I enjoy the mystery? Yes.  Did I feel that is was well plotted? Yes.  The romance was great as well.  The only negative for me is it becomes a predictable romance novel.

This novel offered a slightly different aspect in the girlfriend factor.   I haven’t read many of Julie’s novels that have a strong female component to them.  This is a great change and one that is appreciated by this reviewer.

Have I got a town for you to visit Eternity Springs!

Thank you to Emily March and Librarything for this ARC of Reflection Point. Emily is new to Writer’s Corner.

Synopsis:

The town of Eternity Springs includes some married couples with one very single sheriff.   This sheriff needs a mate.  Zach Turner the Sheriff hears about  a new resident Savannah Sophie Moore.  She is opening a bath store with special scents something like Bath and Body works.  Savannah makes friends easily in the town but can she accept the town matriarch Celeste Blessing?  She brings reminders of Savannah’s past which she would like to forget.  When Zach figures out who she is will this affect their relationship?

My Thoughts:

Emily March is a new writer to me.  I am so glad to share this writer’s that are new to me.  She is a romance writer and this is a contemporary romance which means that it includes all the things you would expect in a romance novel.  So why then did I love it?  I came into the middle of the series so I am definitely interested in reading more.
The story of a woman with a past and how will that affect the future?  I was always wondering what would happen next?  Would Zach truly accept her?  Could Savannah get over her past?

I found myself wanting to read more at the end of each day.  The story has so many dimensions.   I love characters like Celeste Blessing who are the wise beyond their years. Zach and Savannah are characters are that I can identify with.   I would love to live in a town like Eternity Springs.
